Courtney Brown

Product Analyst, Compliance

“My PEO and support experience helps me in knowing how our products are used. I love working with our customers to define problems that need to be solved and see those problems solved with updates to our products.”

Courtney started at PrismHR in customer support a little over 4 years ago. Since that time, she moved from support to QA and this year became a Product Analyst on the Compliance team. Before joining PrismHR, Courtney worked at a PEO in many different roles, which has helped her understand not just how our products need to work, but why they will help our customers.

Much of her career has been in customer-facing roles and she continues to interact with customers as much as possible to ensure the projects she is working on hit the mark and make a real difference to our customers.

Tell us about your professional background.

After graduating from the University of South Florida in Tampa, I worked at a PEO for 8 years. During that time, I handled the implementation of clients on benefits, workers’ compensation, payroll and retirement programs. When I started, I didn’t know much about PEOs, but I loved how we were able to help small businesses by taking things off their plates so they can focus on running their business. In the PEO business, there is always something to learn, and there are many ways people use the system to fit their individual business. The industry is always evolving, and the software is too. I love that the PrismHR software is flexible to give customers and clients just what they need.

What interested you in the PrismHR product management department?

During COVID, I was part of a team that trained on the new COVID compliance items – both internally and externally. Compliance is such a broad subject that touches every area of the system – it’s more than taxes or reporting – it touches the actual workflows in areas such as onboarding, payroll and benefits. I found it fascinating how items that seem so large come to fruition by working with all the different teams and the customers to break down the problem and ultimately a solution that helps our customers and their clients. I wanted to be more involved in the process of developing solutions so when an analyst position opened, I applied right away.

What is your favorite part of being a Product Analyst at PrismHR?

I have officially been in the role for a few months and during that time I have found it very satisfying to see progress being made on things that our customers need. I was able to attend PrismHR LIVE and spend time in the Discovery Zone to meet with our customers about where they would like to see our focus for the next few releases and show them some of the things we have been working on. I look forward to having ongoing conversations with our customers and partnering with them on the development of solutions to make the software better and better. I love being part of the overall team here at PrismHR and collaborating with support, development, professional services, the CSM team and the product team as well as keeping up on the latest changes in the field of compliance.

What projects are you currently working on?

Courtney Brown's family.

I am currently working on compliance year-end items related to W2s and enhancing the ACA tracking and reporting. For ACA we are building an eligibility dashboard to help our customers more easily manage and review employees throughout the year – the dashboard will provide an at-a-glance view instead of just relying on reports. We are also working on global PTO rules to handle different rules for employees working in different areas to ensure the proper PTO standards are adhered to at each worksite.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have a 4-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter. We go on a lot of weekend road trips to explore new places and spend a lot of time on the water or in the water – on the boat, swimming, scuba diving or just hanging out on the beach. I also enjoy reading and running. I recently completed the 7-mile bridge run in Key West!
